I’m blessed to be working in such an amazing industry. I feel so lucky to do what I do every single day. The fact I get to wake up not having to go in to work, but instead I can leave the house to do my hobby with a bunch of like-minded people. I have worked alongside and become friends with some of the most talented, creative, technical, and amazing people I have ever met. It’s great to be able to connect and collaborate with some of these people living in different countries miles and miles away from me through the power of the web and its technologies.

The reason I am writing this post is because of something that happened recently. You should start by reading the following post.

I think as a industry and as a community, its absolutely fantastic we are able to push forward with such a beautiful gesture for such a sad, touching story. Two weeks today web standards advocate Eric Meyer had the most devastating experience of dealing with his daughter’s passing due to cancer. Rebecca Meyer passed away on the 7th June 2014 which also marked the day of her sixth birthday. If you unaware of what has happened then you can read Eric’s blog on the link below.

As a follower of Eric’s work, blog and social streams for so many years, I would just like to thank him for everything he has done for our industry and what he has done for everyone involved in it. We certainly would not be where we are today without him and his dedication to developing such an outstanding web experience.

I myself would not be where I am today without him. I wouldn’t have my business, I wouldn’t be able to develop the sites the way I do and I certainly wouldn’t have the experience and knowledge without his resources and fantastic talks.

I’m just so glad we can give him something so small, but so memorable back. All of my thoughts are with Eric and his family at this extremely sad time. Thank you.
